FRED&FERRY continues to work on the basis previously laid by mariondecannière and Lokaal 01.
The websites of both organisations serve as a basis and reference work:
For more than 10 years, Marion De Cannière has provided a generous platform for contemporary visual artists. She has worked closely with emerging and established Belgian and international artists and independent curators. Numerous young artists have made their first exhibitions with her.
Enough reasons to open her archive to the widest possible audience.
Lokaal 01 was an artists' initiative in Breda and Antwerp for the contemporary visual artist.
In 1981, on the initiative of a number of Breda artists, a room in a studio building in Breda was made suitable for "The Publicity of Art". This room was marked 'Lokaal 01' on the floor plan in the meter cupboard and that is how Lokaal 01 got its name at the time.
Lokaal 01 offered artists the space to create and present work. Among other things, innovative exhibition concepts were conceived and elaborated in Breda. In Antwerp there were work periods for beginning artists. Artists were allowed to make use of the space and facilities.
The Breda branch closed its doors in 2013, followed by the organisation in Antwerp at the end of 2016.
The archive of Lokaal 01 was hidden for a long time. It will be reopened via this site.
