vana is a painter and writer
Painting lies at the heart of vana’s artistic practice. It is the medium through which his visual language unfolds — intuitive, layered, and deeply connected to the wider conversations that shape his work.
Beyond the studio, vana is widely known as the artistic director of Croxhapox, the non-commercial platform for contemporary art in Ghent founded in 1990. Croxhapox is celebrated for its experimental and multidisciplinary approach, engaging with music, film, poetry, art criticism, and other boundary-pushing artistic practices.
In addition to his curatorial and organizational work, vana is also the co-founder and vocalist of the band The Singing Painters. Writing, organizing, and performing have always informed his vision — yet painting remains his constant and essential core.
