"Now on its way to the ⸻"
" Copy, one Alpha" "
⸻ enduring laboratory in orbit"
Exhibition view (03.04 | 07.05.2022)
"With a profound sense of wonder Winnie Claessens recreates worlds in which interpretations are stimulated, the imagination seduced. Claessens' installations are strongly narrative and are evidence of her background in scenography and fascination with film. Each installation is an immersive universe in which the beautiful and the sad, the comic and the tragic, the good and the bad can coexist.
Claessens usually translates these grand narratives into a smaller material form. She reconstructs the often melancholic scenes and atmospheres in fragile models. These aesthetic scale models transcend their purely applied function; they are an ode to craftsmanship, manual creation and attentive observation."
